Job Description
We are supporting a well established, lovely charity in the centre of Birmingham who is recruiting for a New Business Officer on a Maternity Contract. This will be a 6 month fixed term contract and will sit in the Corporate Fundraising team.
The Corporate Fundraising team is a critical part of the charity's growth as it provides valuable income, therefore they need invest in growing more long term strategic partnerships.
This New Business Officer position will contribute to the charity's ambition to proactively go after new leads, target prospective business, secure new business and generate new income.
The ideal post holder will be responsible for delivering the new business objectives, these could be long term partnerships, cause related marketing partnerships, sponsorship, following up on unsolicited donation or lapsed donors. You should also be prepared to go out to completely cold sales calls as well.
Key duties:
Making lots of business development calls and communications
Manage high volumes of emails and other communications
Working with a CRM system
Lead generation from lots of channels
Create new relationships from first contact to securing a relationship and bringing in income
If you are wanting to apply having read so far, you should ensure you have new business/sales call experience within a corporate or third sector environment. You should be confident on the phone and have good persuasive skills. You should be happy speaking in public/networking events and write compelling proposals.
This role is not for somebody who isn't happy talking to people all day every day! Don't get me wrong its not a horrid 'salesy' environment but its all about creating new opportunities so the more calls made the more chance of a successful conversation. They are a well respected charity and you should be proud to work for them and want to bring in more income to them from fundraising.
