We're looking for a Freelance Strategy Director to join an established agency who have 25+ years of experience working with some of the biggest brands in the B2C space.
This is a 3 - 6 month contract (outside IR35) with a high probability of extension. Offering a hybrid working environment Mon-Wed in their central Birmingham office then Thur - Friday working from home.
As a Strategy Director, you’ll be in the cockpit defining new brands, re-positioning tired ones and leading campaign strategy for existing ones.
You’ll be a smart & sharp leader who is highly visible, vocal and inspiring to clients, creatives and client services team alike.
This role will span consumer brands, B2B, new business and internal stewardship of our Deviant Means strategy model, so channel- and discipline-agnostic experience is a must.
It goes without saying that an intelligent and practiced understanding of marketing’s first principles (4Ps, STP, USP) – ahead of comms, channels or tactics - will underpin your consultancy to their clients and colleagues.
Most importantly, you will lead the charge for ‘Conspicuous’ outputs. Seeing the shard of opportunity in a swamp of clone-brands; identifying and challenging targeting assumptions; surfacing and expressing an insight and brand proposition with a combination of words previously unsaid; and making the first lateral leap towards a creative solution that will set brands and businesses in splendid isolation.
You’ll be an enlightening simplifier, energising partner to senior Creatives and an ego-free good egg ready to help propel the agency its team and its vision forward into its next stage of growth.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
• 7+ years experience in brand and campaign strategy with demonstrable success at growing brands.
• Strong writing skills and ability to craft compelling, unique narratives in presentations, manifestos and creative briefs
• Clear, persuasive presenter in front of founders, CEOs, company boards and marketing directors • Confident conducting depth interviews and the subsequent analysis
• Resourceful desk researcher finding nuggets others miss or wouldn’t ever come across
• Rapidly analyse large volumes of ‘data’ to identify critical points
• Naturally model curiosity, enthusiasm and collaboration as an inspiring team player
