Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Activation Manager to develop, lead & execute the channel & format strategy across online, convenience, FOS, new and emerging channels and shopper marketing. This is a great opportunity to join a leading FMCG business who have a fantastic reputation for developing their people. This role has one direct report.

Role requirements:

  • Ensuring the category vision is tailored to achieve the vision objectives, optimising each touchpoint
  • Online, Café, PFS, Front of store, new & emerging channels
  • Developing channel & touchpoint insights to optimise tailoring of vision
  • Working with retailer specific teams to tailor tactics accordingly
  • Setting & tracking measurable targets reporting back to the business on a monthly basis
  • Development & Execution of strategy from a range, product, pricing, promo & in-store / online activation point of view across FOS, Café, PFS & Online
  • Developing learning & best practice to roll out across the trade
  • Recommending where to play & how online - e.g. Amazon
  • Developing merchandising solutions across OOH & convenience sector
  • Identifying product and packaging requirements to meet channel needs
  • Leading trials to develop best in class stories & a RTB for the trade

Ensuring first class plans are activated effectively in the channel delivering optimal results by:

  • Setting direction and standards by channel and customer
  • Setting look of success standards, backed up with compelling story to trade based on consumer, shopper, category & market insights
  • Successfully driving initiatives that drive profitable growth for business & the customer
  • Collaborating internally to identify opportunities & develop strategies that meet customer & business growth expectations
  • Working cross functionally during the business planning process to develop key shopper objectives, strategies & budgets

Setting clear measurable objectives for all activities which are reviewed regularly and ensuring every pound is spent efficiently through:

  • Measuring and tracking all activities in-store across customer & sales metrics
  • Evaluating ROI on all activity & providing recommendations to optimise future planning
  • Managing efficiencies with customers and agencies
  • Developing best practice through feedback on success

To have a best in class collaborative shopper relationship with our chosen retailer partner driving incremental growth through removing barriers & motivating shoppers to buy, bringing excitement to the in-store execution, by:

  • Developing collaborative relationships with key customers aligning Business's & Retailer's marketing objectives
  • Aligning to key account managers to input into their account plans
  • Understanding customer objectives, planning needs & timelines
  • Building relationships with customer teams and customer marketing departments
  • Playing a lead role to land the vision & develop tailored step changing plans in our key customers, ensuring plans for the by format, activation of brand shopper marketing program

Skills & experience:

  • Experience within a Commercial role within FMCG
  • Leadership & accountability
  • Self-starter, proactive agenda setting and solution based approach
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong communication skills with multiple styles
  • Effective influencer and good commercial understanding.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinker
  • Disciplined and process driven
  • Comfortable with data and able to translate into insight
  • Prepared to get hands dirty and do the doing
  • Ability to influence at a senior level
  • Personable and relationship builder
  • Desire and ability to step into more senior roles in the future
