The organisation is in the midst of lots of positive change and as the new Director of Communications, you will central to driving and communicating this both internally and with all core external audiences. In return, you'll be a key part of the management team and play a crucial in driving reputation and engagement levels both internally and externally.

We're looking for a senior operator who has an inclusive, lead by example, hands-on mentality. You'll need to have a track record of success in similar senior communications roles and a very evident understanding of all brand and marketing channels, how they knit together to achieve maximum impact and how crucial it is to build, engage and maintain the reputation and positive narrative.

Given the nature of the organisation, part of the role will also involve external affairs and the ability to network and influence at governmental level. Any experience of this nature will, therefore, be highly valued, as will experience of crisis and reputation management, the ability to media train CEOs and ensure a consistent, positive message. There is a broad array of stakeholders to build relationships with, so your ability to network and quickly win trust at senior levels is paramount.

This role requires the following responsibilities:

  • Review and enhance the communications and external affairs strategy
  • Stakeholder management from local to national level
  • Supporting the board with media engagements
  • Protecting and growing the brand's profile through positive reputation management
  • Budget management
  • Be a pivotal strategic leader

Given the scale of the business, the new Director of Communications and External Affairs will be used to working in a large environment and we're very open to candidates from a variety of sectors, whether that's private, public or not for profit sector, or a combination of these. This is a senior placement that requires somebody who has been exposed to board level and it would be highly advantageous if you have lobbying experience too.
