Head of Social Media
The Head of Social Media works at a strategic level. Working closely with the client, they will ensure a deep understanding of their core target audience, their commercial objectives and how to reach out their customers.
They will work closely with other marketing departments and/or agencies to ensure campaigns are integrated and the social activity reflects the broader marketing strategy.
They will be commercially minded, and through qualified research, be able to advise and steer clients and other departments on best course of action. They will be technically minded and able to decipher reports and stats to evaluate success and return on investment. A seasoned social marketer, they will have knowledge and experience of best practice and techniques.
To be considered, employers look for candidates who have either worked within a social media role, preferably managing a team and budgets. Agency vs in-house experience is less of any issue here, and more about proven experience in monetising social media and building brand value.
Salary wise outside of London the role generally pays between £42,000 to £58,000 depending on regional variance and level of experience.

Considering relocating:
Derby was one of the crucibles of Britain’s Industrial Revolution: a sleepy market town was transformed almost overnight into a major manufacturing centre, producing everything from silk, to bone china trains and Rolls-Royce aircraft engines.
Derby is a city that is undergoing a period of transition and redevelopment that will ensure its growing appeal as an ideal place to live and work, having received significant investment in the last few years thanks to a major regeneration plan. This will include a new hi-tech business park, which will further strengthen its role in the aerospace, rail and automotive industries. Other key industry sectors in the region include software and IT, Creative and Nunclear research & development. All of this means Derby has one of the highest skilled workforces in the UK and boasts the highest average salary outside London.
The city centre has a rich mix of arts, tourism and cultural venues that will appeal to all tastes, along with a passionate sporting tradition, in particular for football, cricket and motor racing.
