Candidates looking to get into PR and communications tend to favour the agency route in the early stages of their career to gain a broad level of experience. Although some agencies will specialise in consumer or b2b (business to business) PR, generally most regional agencies have a mix of clients.

Salary wise outside of London the role generally pays between £18,000 to £22,000 depending on regional variance and level of experience.
