We're delighted to announce that Rob Markwell, Managing Director here at Pitch, has won the HR, Recruitment and Training category at the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards (BYPY). The judging panel commended Rob for helping to tackle the experience gap facing Birmingham’s young people, and making a clear and tangible benefit to the creative sector and wider community.

Also competing for the award in the category were Alexandra Barre from Idex and Katy Hanby at KPMG.

Speaking at the awards ceremony Rob said: “I’m really chuffed to win this award. This year marks our 10th anniversary at Pitch, so it’s fantastic to get this recognition. The HR and Recruitment category was hard fought, so it means an awful lot to win.”

Tara Tomes, chairman of networking group BPS Birmingham Future added: "As with every year, the calibre of candidates was so impressive and last night we showcased passionate and talented finalists who all deserved to be centre stage.”

Rob founded Pitch in 2007 with business partner Ollie who also won this category at BYPY back in 2009, so it's particularly rewarding to see that our approach and commitment to the sector continues to be recognised. Since inception, the team here at Pitch has grown year on year, and now has offices in central Birmingham and Manchester. We've long been a supporter of local talent in Birmingham and in 2009 set up the not-for-profit scheme, B-Hive. The initiative is designed to help local Birmingham students break into a creative career, providing much needed work experience with local leading brands and creative agencies.
