Senior Communications and Policy Manager – Interim opportunity Solihull – 2 days office/3 days home Up to £70,000 (can be day rate equivalent or as FTC) This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced communications specialist, where you will be working in a role that makes a real impact, working as part of an organisation who are at the forefront of skills for a greener world. Our client is the voice of the sector and works with members, government and regulators to identify and address the skills challenges that exist within the utilities sector. They provide membership, assurance, and skills solutions to help employers attract, develop and maintain a sustained skilled workforce. As the Senior Communications and Policy Manager, you will work at Group level, reporting to the CEO and liaising with the sales, membership and marketing teams as well as other senior stakeholders of the business to create and deliver a robust communications plan for the new five-year strategy. This strategy is set to be launched in October. You’ll be comfortable working with stakeholders at the highest level, including government leaders. A little bit about what you will be doing: Develop and implement the communications plan, both externally and internally. Develop a strategic comms plan, including thought leadership, white papers, speaking opportunities at sector events and media coverage. Deliver the comms plan across multiple channels including web, video, social media, PR, events. Manage the production of policy documents and manage consultation responses and policy inquiries Create comms documents to be used at political conferences and networking events. Develop and manage the company’s positioning and responses to key skills and sector policy at national, devolved, regional and combined mayoral authority levels, ensuring consistency of message. A little bit about the background and experience you need: You will be able to demonstrate experience within a senior communications and policy role. Your background will come from public sector, utilities, independent training providers etc. and if you have worked for an awarding organisation, this would be a huge bonus. Experience of external communications, external affairs and/or policy is essential. Comfortable presenting and speaking at high profile events, including government briefings. You’ll be influential and an expert relationship builder. Happy working from the office in Solihull for two days a week with flexibility to travel when needed. This role is initially being offered on an interim basis for a period of approximately 6 months. This can be as a fixed term contract, or as a day rate freelancer. There is also an opportunity for the role to become permanent for the right individual on a temp to perm basis. They’re looking for an integrated marketer with experience of planning and delivery campaigns. Your experience could come from an agency or in-house role. Due to the location of the office, you’ll need to have your own transport and be happy to travel out to branches occasionally. In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning campaigns that support branches as local level, as well as working on regional and national campaigns. Responsibilities in the role: Take ownership of planning campaigns at local level, including budget management. Write campaign plans and briefs and communicate these to the internal marketing team and agencies for delivery. Be responsible for campaigns being delivered on time and to budget. Work with data team to gain insights on campaign performance and future plan. Experience needed: Previous experience in a marketing campaign role is needed. A full understanding of integrated marketing including digital (paid, organic, social), email, print, PR, advertising, POS. Ideally a marketing focused degree or equivalent qualification.
