Preston is a city in the centre of Lancashire on the north bank of the River Ribble, which obtained city status in 2002, becoming England's 50th city. Preston is a vibrant, cultural and friendly city, with much to admire and keep you entertained; a mid-sized, bustling city, which retains its traditional roots, yet encapsulates a young and lively atmosphere. Preston also enjoys an enviable location in the North West of England; located a short distance from the coast, the Lake District, with good links to two international airports and an extensive motorway system, making Preston one of the most networked cities in the country.
Preston original roots were seeped in the textiles industry, before it then became a major boomtown in the Industrial Revolution. These days Preston is a major centre for the British defence and aerospace industry with BAE Systems, transportation with the likes of Alstom, Customer Services with the likes of Carphone Warehose, as well as with the haulage industry given the transport links.
There’s also lots to enjoy outside of work, with the revitalised docks and marina, waterfront living, plus a vibrant shopping and leisure scene.
